Your detailed itinerary

On arrival, pick up your rental car and head to the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik. Why not head to the Blue Lagoon for a truly relaxing dip in the hot springs? Overnight stay at the hotel.

Hotel Cabin Reykjavik or similar

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Take the road to the Snaefellsnes peninsula, located approximately 3 hours northwest of the island. Peering over the Snӕfellsnes peninsula, Snaefellsjökull, nick-named the "snow-capped volcano", is the volcano that inspired Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Explore the peninsula at your own pace in line with your preferences. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Three-star Hotel Borgarnes or similar

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Head towards the south to visit the coast. Stop off at the impressive Selfoss waterfall on the way. In the early afternoon, head off an excursion to the Sólheimajökull glacier with an experienced guide: you'll go up on foot, equipped with crampons and ice picks to discover the glacier and its crevasses! The view from the top of the lagoon is spectacular and the snowy landscapes surrounding you will take your breath away. Next, head to Vik for the evening. Make sure to stop off at the black sandy beach and cliffs of Reynisfjara. The contrasting colours are particularly striking in winter. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Three-star Hotel Dyrholaey or similar

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Today, it's time to head off towards the east of the island. You'll explore Skaftafell National Park and Skaftafellsjökull. Visiting the park in winter is a real treat as you can see the tongues of the glacier spill out along the shore. While the park is surrounded by glaciers, it is one of the Icelandic regions least affected by snow due to southerly winds. Continue on to the famous Jökulsarlon glacier lagoon and admire the bright icebergs as they drift by. Diamond Beach just opposite is studded with small beached icebergs that reflect the sun. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Three-star Hotel Dyrholaey or similar

Breakfast at the hotel. Stop off at Skogafoss waterfall. If you wish, take a short visit to the small town of Hveragerdi, a place known for its geological activity and hot steam coming out of the ground. Head off on a day trip to discover the Golden Circle and Thingvellir National Park, a place of historical and geological interest and a UNESCO heritage site. Then head to Hvita, "the white river", which flows from the interior highlands and turns into a stunning torrent known as Gullfoss, "the golden waterfall", which falls into a deep basalt canyon. Discover the waterfalls on foot. Explore the geyser site where Strokkur emits a column of hot water about 25 metres high every 5 to 7 minutes. Many natural phenomena can also be observed at the geyser field, such as hot springs, mud and bubbling water, and pure sulphur. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Five-star Selfoss Hotel or similar

Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning to relax or continue your visit of the Golden Circle. In the early afternoon, get ready for a unique experience that only Iceland can offer! Visit the geothermal bakery and enjoy bread baked directly in the hot black sand, delicous with a knob of butter. After several days of adventures across Iceland, it is now time to take a rejuvenating break at the Fontana Spa in Laugavartn. Come and relax in the natural hot springs (towel included). Overnight at the hotel.

Five-star Selfoss Hotel or similar

Breakfast at the hotel. Head to Reykjavik and discover the Icelandic capital. Spend the afternoon exploring the city, including its iconic cathedral and attractive, colourful high street. In the evening, set off with a guide in preparation for a hunting trip at dawn. Your guide's experience and instruments for measuring solar activity will give you the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights! Overnight stay at the hotel.

Three-star Klettur Hotel or similar

Breakfast at the hotel. Free time in the morning before you head to the airport. Drop off the rental car at the airport before departure. End of stay.
